The climate is changing much more rapidly than any model could have predicted, because human activities are increasing the use of fossil fuels every year. Extreme events are becoming stronger and more frequent. The process can be slowed down, but there is no going back. The built environment is a key element in both adapting to these changes and reducing greenhouse gas emissions.
