We recommend registering in the full course (Theory Masterclass and Design Studio) for a better understanding of the issues and solutions. Registration in the full course corresponds to 160 hours of workload, and are equivalent to 8 ECTS.

However, the full course, although strongly recommended, is not the only option. As an alternative, you can register for:

  • The full Theory Masterclass (equivalent to 4 ECTS)
  • The Design Studio (equivalent to 4 ECTS) with at least one module of the Theory Masterclass (equivalent to 1ECTS per module)
  • One or more elective courses (no ECTS granted)

  • The Braillard Architects Foundation has designed the Transition Workshop according to the Swiss academic requirements Thus 20 hours of courses equal 1 ECTS. Please contact your university competent services and the Foundation for more information.
  • The full Theory Masteclass, with the individual written thesis following the theoretical part are equivalent to 4 ECTS.
  • The full Design Studio, with the team design work during the practical part are equivalent to 4 ECTS.

You can register for one or more of the four modules and for one or more of 40 Theory Masterclass courses.

Registration is done on the program page and payment is done online.

Payable in 2 instalments if you do the full course

  • 1/2 the 1st February 2024
  • 2/2 the 27th June 2024

If you do only the Theory Masterclass or the Design Studio, the payment is made in 1 instalments:

  • Theory Masterclass the 1st February 2024
  • Design Studio the 27th June 2024

A candidate may cancel his/her registration free of charge 2 months before the start of the course by writing to transitionworkshop@braillard.ch. After this period, cancellation conditions apply. In the event of absence from the course, this will not be replaced or reimbursed.

The Foundation reserves the right to interrupt a registered participant’s presence in the following cases:

  • 1. In the event of non-compliance with financial commitments.
  • 2. If the student does not appear to be able to complete the course in a satisfactory manner.
  • 3. In the event of inappropriate behaviour, disrespect for others and ethics.

The student will be reimbursed only on a pro-rata basis for courses already attended.
Upon presentation of a medical certificate attesting to the inability to follow all or part of the course, the registration fee will be cancelled and/or reimbursed on a pro-rata basis.

LOGISTICS

Accommodation costs during stays in Geneva for the Theory Masterclass and/or the Design Studio are at your expense. For those who wish, the Braillard Architects Foundation can provide a list of solutions. Please contact the Foundation for more details.

The Theory Masterclass will take place on site in Geneva, at the Braillard Architects Foundation , with the presence of the participants strongly recommended, in order to create a network of Transition professionals, to meet specialists in the field of Transition and to participate, depending on the year, in educational outings.

The DESIGN STUDIO will take place on site in Geneva, in the premises of SIG rue des Jardins 5, 1205.

For the theme and content of TW24, please refer to the Transition Workshop website (update coming soon).

For educational travel, transport is included in the price.

All other transport will be at your expense.

The foundation will provide: books, models, drawing materials (tracing paper).
It is up to you to bring: your own measuring and drawing tools as well as computer, pencils, compasses, squares, felt pens …

If you are injured we have a first aid kit if needed.

Do we have AXA insurance to cover us for students and visitors? no

The Foundation is not responsible for the loss or theft of your belongings. It is your responsibility to ensure the security of your belongings outside and on the premises.

Meals are at your own expense.

Coffee, tea and water, as well as snacks, are available throughout the workshop.
Occasionally, meals will be organised during outings and provided by the Transition Workshop.

By registering for the workshop, you authorise the Braillard Architects Foundation to publish your image on our social networks or in our publications for communication purposes

At SIG
The TW is graciously invited to the premises of SIG, and the spaces are shared with the employees. Therefore, we ask to respect the rules of communal living.

To the Braillard Architects Foundation:
You are required to respect the property and equipment of the Foundation.

VALIDATION OF THE TRANSITION WORKSHOP

THEORY MASTERCLASS

  • 2024: A written theoretical report submitted before (June 30)
    2025: A written theoretical report submitted before (date to come)


DESIGN STUDIO

2024

  • Written: A .ppt presentation or equivalent on July 5, 2024
  • Oral: A team presentation of the work on July 12, 2024
  • Written or oral submissions can only be postponed with a medical certificate sent before the deadline, by email to the Braillard Architectes Foundation. If a medical certificate is not possible, a solution will be negotiated.
  • Geneva Seminar Day | Public presentation of the work: November 20, 2023

 

2025

  • Written: A ppt presentation or equivalent on July 7, 2025
  • Oral: A team presentation of the work on July 18, 2025
  • Written or oral submissions can only be postponed with a medical certificate sent before the deadline, by email to the Braillard Architectes Foundation. If a medical certificate is not possible, a solution will be negotiated.
  • Geneva Seminar Day | Public presentation of the work: date to come

A certificate of studies is issued to any participant who has successfully completed the entire program (including the written report for the Theory Masterclass and the oral presentation for the Design Studio).

A certificate of completion of training is issued to participants who have not obtained their certificate (see conditions for obtaining).

Note: a course interrupted by the participant will not lead to the award of the certificate of studies. The participant has however the possibility of continuing or completing the course in the following years.

Absences from the course: 2 days of the total course (or a maximum of 16 hours) are authorized. Beyond these 2 days of absence, the unattended classes must be completed during the next year’s edition, in order to receive the certificate of studies.

The certificate of studies is issued upon receipt of the corresponding course fee. A temporary certificate is issued by the Braillard Architects Foundation to all participants at the end of the Design Studio.

Is it a recognised certificate? Will I get credit from a university? How long do I have to wait to receive my certificate?

  • As part of its public role, the Fondation Braillard Architectes awards the certificate of studies in accordance with Swiss federal and cantonal laws and regulations. In this sense, the certificate of studies is fully recognized as such.
  • The validation of the ECTS credits of the Transition Workshop is the responsibility of the participant’s home academic institution. For any recognition of ECTS units, please ask your institution’s administration to contact the Braillard Architects Foundation transitionworkshop@braillard.ch
  • Certificates are awarded in December of the current Transition Workshop year. If necessary, the Foundation can issue temporary certificates.
